David Parkes leads research at the interface between economics and computer science, with a focus on electronic commerce, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Parkes founded the EconCS research group within Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). He has served as the chair of several major conferences (ACMEC, EC, WINE, HCOMP), chairs the ACM special interest group on electronic commerce, and serves on several editorial boards in economics and computer science. His current research interests are in market design, information and preference elicitation, modeling behavior, machine learning and economics, and computational social choice. Parkes has an MEng (first class) in Engineering and Computing Science from Oxford University and a PhD in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
