QuakeFinder, an R&D project within Stellar Solutions Inc., has collected a decades worth of data along major faultlines using specialized sensors. The goal of this 2015 NASA challenge was to characterize pre-earthquake electromagnetic signals and develop a forecasting algorithm capable of providing advanced warning ahead of major earthquakes.
Fifty-five competitors submitted 239 solutions and competed for $25,000 in prizes. Two of the top solutions were above the statistically significant threshold and demonstrated positive correlation between risk outputs and actual events. For more information, visit the here.
